This engaging and reflective workshop explores the impact trauma can have on individuals, communities and the professionals who support them. Drawing on over 20 years of frontline experience, the session helps participants develop a deeper understanding of trauma, how it affects the brain and body and why trauma responses make sense.
Together, we will explore topics including complex trauma, PTSD, vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and burnout, while gaining practical insight into how trauma may present in everyday interactions. Participants will learn how to apply trauma-informed principles such as safety, trust, choice, collaboration, empowerment and cultural consideration to create more compassionate and effective relationships.
Importantly, this workshop recognises that supporting others can have an impact on us too. Through reflection, discussion and practical tools, participants will explore ways to strengthen resilience, maintain healthy boundaries, regulate stress and support their own wellbeing.
Whether you work in leadership, housing, healthcare, education, emergency services, community support or customer-facing roles, this session provides the knowledge, confidence and practical strategies needed to support others whilst sustaining yourself.
Together, we move beyond asking "What's wrong with you?" and begin asking "What happened to you?" and equally importantly, "What do I need to stay well whilst doing this work?"
